TED Talks – Shawn Achor: The happy secret to better work

25 Oct TED Talks – Shawn Achor: The happy secret to better work

What’s the secret to happiness? This is the one-million-dollar question that psychologists and scientists have been trying to answer since time immemorial.

It’s safe to say that most of us probably link happiness to success. As in, if we work harder and become more successful, we’ll be happier. But what if it’s the other way around?

Harvard psychologist and happiness researcher Shawn Anchor certainly thinks so. Shawn Achor is the author of The Happiness Advantage and is known for his advocacy of positive psychology.

In this fast-moving and entertaining TED Talk, Achor argues that actually, happiness inspires us to be more successful, not the other way around. When we are positive, our brains become more engaged, creative, motivated, energetic, resilient, and productive at work. Achor also explains how we can reprogram our brains to become more positive in order to gain a competitive edge at work.
